If you’re thinking about getting a pet, please consider rescuing an animal in need and giving them a home for life. You’ll be rewarded with a lifetime of unconditional love from your new companions
Why Adopt from the SPCA?
Every year, thousands of animals of all shapes, sizes and ages come into The Nova Scotia SPCA. All of them have an individual story to tell and all of them deserve a second chance at life.
Many are simply lost pets or unwanted litters of puppies or kittens. Others have been abandoned or have suffered from cruelty or neglect. Some are here because their owners simply could no longer care for them. You can rescue an animal in need by giving them a loving home for life.
Find the Right Pet For You
Our expert animal staff will match you to the right pet for your lifestyle. We want every animal to find the right home, so we will talk with you to understand your lifestyle and needs. Once we know what you’re looking for in a pet, we will help you to select the right pet for you. If you’ve got the time and the love, we’ve got a pet to suit your family.
Expert Advice and Assistance
Our expert animal team will provide you with advice on caring for your new pet and settling them into your home. After adoption, we will be happy to help with advice or answer any concerns you may have about settling your new family member into your home.
Adoption of domestic animals is facilitated through the branches of the Nova Scotia SPCA throughout the province. Shelters in Dartmouth, Kentville, New Glasgow, Sydney, Truro and Yarmouth, and foster-care networks in Antigonish, Municipality of Clare, Hants County, Lunenburg County and Liverpool, provide adoption services that help homeless animals find new, permanent homes.
