PRESS RELEASE: Halifax Man Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty

Halifax NS (October 24th, 2016) – Dion Connori MacBeth was charged on July 25th, 2014 with failing to provide (4 cats) with adequate source of food and water contrary to section 22 (a), confining (4 cats) to an area or enclosure with unsanitary conditions 22 (d) and failing to provide (1 cat) with adequate medical attention contrary to section 22 (b) of the Animal Protection act of Nova Scotia.

After several months’ postponement, a trial was held and MacBeth was found guilty and sentenced on September 8th, 2016 to 18 months’ probation, 4 years prohibition on owning animals and has been ordered to pay the SPCA $3192.20 in restitution.
