Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Kings County Branch. We depend heavily on our volunteers, without you we could not operate!

Wondering what's involved in being a Nova Scotia SPCA volunteer?

We need volunteers for all shifts but particularly need help in the mornings and evenings. There are a number of tasks available for volunteers such as:

  • Animal Care - working directly with the animals, feeding, cleaning, administering medications, walking dogs, socializing cats, etc.
  • Maintenance/Trades- smalls repairs, carpentry, landscaping, etc. as needed
  • Housekeeping - washing walls and windows, mopping floors, laundry, etc.
  • Run errands, donation pick ups, food/litter runs, etc. A vehicle would be required for this type of assistance.

Other Volunteer opportunities:

There are also volunteer opportunities outside the shelter, such as:

  • Helping at our fundraising and educational/PR events.
  • Help with the newsletter
  • Work with the youth group
  • Serve on the Board of Directors
  • Serve on one of the Board's Committees.
