CATS:

We are now able to complete your application same day. When you are ready to adopt please stop into the shelter to visit the adoptable cats.  You will be required to show photo id.

We will also ask that you agree that you will not declaw any cat you adopt from us. For information on alternatives to declawing please visit our website here:

If you are interested in adopting a declawed cat please contact the shelter and we can notify you when an already declawed cats becomes available for adoption.

Please make sure you are ready to take on the commitment of adopting a cat and stop into the shelter or one of our offsite adoption partners when you are ready to make the lifelong commitment to a companion.

To adopt the new kitty must leave safely in a cat carrier.  Please note makeshift carriers will not be permitted for the safety of your new kitty.  We do have cardboard carriers for purchase, call ahead to make sure we have some in stock or bring a carrier with you.

If after adopting, you find that your new pet is not the best fit for you, we do provide 30 days in which you can return the pet for a full refund of the adoption fee.  We recognize that sometimes resident animals already in the home may not be accepting of the new pet, and some things may become apparent only after adoption (such as allergies).

DOGS:

Applications can only be submitted after you have met the dog you are interested in.  If you are travelling from a distance to visit our shelter we recommend you call ahead to make sure the dog is still available.

We do consider the first applicant to meet the dog and also take into consideration the best home situation to meet that dogs specific needs.

Your application will then be processed, please let your references know we will be calling. Note applications are not processed until you have met and selected a dog you would like to proceed with adopting.  The adoption process takes only about 2 to 3 days.

Once you have met the dog and submitted an application, we do request all members of the household meet the dog you are interested in adopting to ensure everyone agrees with the adoption and the dog gets along with all members of your household.

If you do have a dog at home the next step is to schedule an appointment to bring your dog in for a meet and greet with your potential new family member.

If you have a cat at home we can let you know if we have any information on the dogs behaviour around cats.  If we have no history on the dogs cat behaviour, we can attempt to test the dogs behaviour (through a safe method, by showing the dog a cat through a window).  The dogs reaction will be an indication of whether he will be safe to place in a home with a cat, however may not be a fully accurate representation of how he will react in a home environment.
