The Nova Scotia SPCA takes part in the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon Charity Challenge

The Nova Scotia SPCA has decided to take part in the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge this May. This will be our first time with the Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon and we are hoping for to raise the most money to help the animals in Nova Scotia! The event will support animal cruelty investigations, our area of greatest need and animal care at our Provincial Animal Shelter.

The Charity Challenge allows a registered charity to put together a team and participate in the Blue Nose Marathon weekend as an official charity. The charity keeps 100% of the funds that they raise and Scotiabank has an online fundraising site where people can choose the charity they wish to support. 

There are many benefits to participating on behalf of the Nova Scotia SPCA, most important is your desire to help animals and to raise much needed dollars on their behalf. As a registered charity for the event through the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge they provide:

• Tshirts for our 10 participants
• Pasta Village May 19 (a pre race rally and thank you)
• Free training(see below)
• Personalized online fundraising making it easy to raise more dollars
• Chances to win prizes
• Increased awareness for the Society and opportunity if our team has the most participants, largest amount of pledges And/or the largest amount of pledge dollars per participant to win cash prizes for the Society .   
• Water, energy drinks and first aid stations along the route
• A medal for participating
• A great “Post Race Mixer” free food and refreshments
• And a good old fashioned Maritime Molson Post Race Party Sunday May 20th at WTCC

We need a minimum of 9 more team members but we want as many people as we can get to register and join us for the Marathon either running or walking and raising money for the SPCA. There is a full/half marathon, 10k, 5k and the Dr’s Nova Scotia Youth run to choose from and all fitness levels are welcome to participate. Once we get a team started maybe we can set up some team runs to help us all prepare and keep everyone motivated.
